Name is Vince but go by Vinnie (Italian by Marriage). I’m 51 yrs old and live in Chicago, with a great wife and great 21 yr old son going to Univ of Iowa (got the $110,000 Iowa T-shirt to prove it!)
I work for the FAA but I’m starting to think about retiring after 33 yrs in Air Traffic Control.

I have a Member Mark Stainless Grill (love that thing), Charcoal Weber, 2 Turkey Fryers and the newest addition, a Brinkmann Vertical Gas Smoker that I can’t seem to get below 275F (and it’s really ticking me off). Well that’ll be another post.

Wife and I are excellent cooks but I wanted to expand my horizons into smoking. So the wife just got me the Vertical Propane Brinkmann (stands about 40” high) for my B-day. Years ago I had a charcoal smoker but never learned how to stabilize the temp. Finally gave up and through it away. So here I go again! I’m really excited about finding SMF and looking forward to learning. Still working on the picture thing.

Welcome, this is the place to hang out and learn some cool stuff, It wansn't too long ago that I stubled upon this site.

Start out simple and be patient, and you will turn out some good Q.

And buy yourself a good thermometer. The ones that come on most smokers are not very accurate.
