Just thought I would say hello and introduce myself. I live just south of Columbia, SC in the small town of Gaston.

I am a retired electronic technician, an avid woodworker (Model trains, antique autos, etc.), and a newbee to smoking meat. I purchased a cheap Brinkmann smoker today. Don't know what I will cook first. I see all the things you people cook. Everything looks so good. Well, Iwill do something. Thanks for letting me read all the posts here. It is fun to do.

One question: What is the Order of thin blue smoke? How do you get to be a member?

Welcome Hobknob!
A "cheap Brinkmann" says ECB. If that is what you got, it may be cheap, but it will surprise you with what it will do.
If you need to know, ask! Someone here will get you what you need. There are no dumb questions. And share what you know. That will get you into OTBS down the road.
Hope you have a digital camera so you can post pics of your smoking adventures. We LIKE pics!

hello there, and welcome to the SMF. Don't woory about calling your Brinkman cheap, more great Q has come from that brand than I can count! Regarding becoming a member of the OTBS, I beleive it is under review at this time. We all will be notified with the conclusions ASAP.

Welcome to the forum. I'm also an avid woodworker. I have not built any toys as of yet but an into board games and currently building my own design log cabin bird feeders... Lots of good folks and info here...

Welcome to SMF, hobknob! Lots of us here are pretty new to smoking, but if you keep reading and asking questions you'll be talking like you actually know what you're doing in pretty short order.

As far as what to smoke first... that has a lot to do with what you like. If you're looking for something that pretty forgiving you might want to try a pork butt, for some pulled pork.

Don't forget to tell us and show about your smokes.

Glad to have you with us.

Welcome to the site. You seem to be a man of detail. That will probably mean that you take to this smokin' stuff pretty fast.

I know you will enjoy the site and be sure to ask if you have any questions.

Have fun,

Hello Harold and welcome to the SMF! As already mentioned, be sure to sign up for the five day smoking e-course. It's a great starter. And by the way, good to have another Sand Lapper on board. I love your hash and mustard based sauce.
