Been a lurker/newbie on this site for a couple months now, and thought it time to introduce myself to everyone.

Not much of a smoking history for me, other than drooling over my mom's creations with two Little Chief's over the years. Finally after moving to NC and trying eastern style pulled pork and hush puppies, did I decided to give it a try myself.

So far, my only accomplishment was a respectable pastrami (need a better slicer) and a lot of reading. But, I'm looking to try my first Boston Butt next weekend and who knows what afterward.

As far as equipment goes, I have a new 30" MES which I'm getting rather comfortable with, and a Weber EP-320 for my grilling needs.

Lastly I want to say thanks to everyone on here for all the free tips, advice, and of course QView. You all have taught me more than I imagined, and I can only hope that with a lot of practice I might be in the same ballpark as some of you, one day.

Hello James, welcome to the SMF and thanks for the introduction. it's all good my friend.

Welcome!

I would say that most of us came to this forum as green as you (ok I'll speak for myself).

It's not about how good or knowledgeable you are though...it's about how much fun you have with it.

The folks on here who get that gleam in their eye (or what I imagine is a gleam in their eye) talking about smoking meat are the ones I tend to learn the most from anyway.

James welcome to SMF glad you decided to join in. Now you too can post drool a vision oops I mean Qview

Welcome to the SMF forum, James.  I can't speak for any one else here but I am still lost & confused.  The only thing that makes me sound like I know what I am talking about is that the night before I sleep in a Holiday Inn Express.  LOL.  Enjoy your stay & have fun while you are here.

First off welcome James to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again
