Hello everyone, I'm a new member from Michigan. I'm a total newbie when it comes to smoking, I won a Brinkmann Smoke & Grill (aka ECB) from a bowling fundraiser a year or so ago. I finally took it out and assembled it. I had read up on using it and found out that it needed a few mods to make it work reasonably well. I had an old Smoky Joe which I'm thinking of using for the coal pan. I just need to get the Fiberglass rope and some Weber dampers and the mods should be done. The wife has a digital probe thermometer I can use until I can get a Maverick dual probe thermometer.  Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the group from Northern Illinois. I started smoking years ago on a similar unit. After it I was hooked and went bigger to hold more meat. The probe should be fine and good luck with the mods and cooks.
