I seem to have a lot of smoke escapping around the door of my smoker. Should i add a high temp seal around the door of the smoker? I can get the stuff they use on oven doors if it is safe to do so..

Some leakage is pretty normal...if you're concerned about it, measure the squareness of the cabinet and eyeball the door for possible damage/warpage. If the cabinet/door seem to be OK, then see if you can adjust or modify the door closer/latch mechanism to help it close the door tigher against the cabinet. A bit of bending with pliers on a latch rod, adding a spacer, or a slight bend inside the lip of the cabinet where the latch mates up to it may be just the trick.

It's usually nothing too serious, so don't fret.

I noticed in another post your smoking in 19* weather. Just a thought that the metal is contracted due to the cold and creating a small leak. Personally I wouldnt worry about it as you want the smoke to flow unubstructed.

Like Eric said it is normal now if you feel like it's excessive post a Qview of your smoker and we can advice you from there. But it really is normal other wise our smokers woulf come with a heavy duty latching system and that just not cost effective.
