Smoke Blower
Original poster
I was at my local Home Depot last Sunday and they now have a house brand of charcoal, it is called Ranger, it comes in a 20# bag and sells for 3.99 a bag, but as we speak it is on sale for 2.99 a bag. and I want to know if I should stock up now.

a few questions are

Is it any good, I purchased one bag and used some to finish my smoke on Sunday.

Does Charcoal store very well?, I am thinking in my shed?

I would buy 10 bags at this price if I thought it would survive the winter in the shed.

Please let me know what you think

It doesn't seem to have a rating in the Naked Whiz database. Wonder if it's a Home Depot moniker for something more common (made mainly under another name and sold as "Home Depot"). We have Cowboy here in the Florida Panhandle at Home Depot.

Maybe read the bag and see if you can tell who makes it and then see the database.

i use it all the time.... it seems to hold the heat great for me

as for storing it, i would store it in a room that has very little moisture in the air; charcoal will suck up the moisture

when it was on sale @ my H.D., i stocked up on it, hopefully it will be on sale again when i get home from my smoking sebatical

Hey, for $2.99 a bag, buy it and try it! We never get that kinda deal around here... it is lump charcoal, right?

I've got 12 bags of it in my storage building. I love the stuff and for $2.99
for 20lbs you can't beat it. I think it is as good if not better than Kingsford.
I like prefer briquettes to lump so I get the best of both worlds here.
