I was walking through Walmart yesterday on the prowl for more BBQ gear when I had a great idea pop into my head. I picked up a 1 gallon garden sprayer (that you pump up to pressurize) to fill with apple juice and rum for spraying down my BBQ in the smoker every hour. With 140lbs of meat going on this weekend, it should definetly reduce the time I have to keep the doors opened for mopping.

That's cool.  I like to watch "Dinner Impossible" on the food network.  In an episode I just saw they were cooking on the beach where the show Lost is filmed.  No kitchen, had to buy things from a hardware store.  They built a spit out of jack stands and metal rods.  Roasted chickens I think.  And they used a garden sprayer to baste them.  Worked like a charm.  I think its a great idea for that amount of meat you are cooking!

Post some Qview of the cook!

Just remember to wash out the bug killer first

That's a good idea. For about 7 or 8 bucks for the pump sprayer, it's not gonna break anyone's bank. I assume you're talking about a small one or two gallon unit.

I got one once to use as an aid in changing gear oil but the oil was too thick and viscous to make it practical even with the tip removed so now I have it laying around waiting for another useful purpose or idea to arise. I'd make a brake bleeder out of it but I already have a power bleeder so don't need it for that.

BTW I found a drill pump used with a cordless drill to be the ideal tool for changing gear lube in differentials, trannys and gear boxes.

My wife woild probably say" Strap it on your back while playing Ghost Busters".

I use a 1.25 quart pump sprayer from westlake, and it works great. It just so happens I am on my second one, you gotta remember to clean the apple juice out when you are done cooking. I went looking for it after a month dry spell and found it right where I left it, LOL still with apple juice in it.

NO I didn't even open it, it went to the trash and I went to westlake for a new one. I would like to find a nuclear waste sticker to put on it.

I bought one last year that I really like that holds about 2 liters and it has an telescoping nozzle that goes out 2 feet so I can reach into the Lang

Now thats a great idea for a really big smoke. Thanks there Big Jon

Love the idea, I have 2-3 plastic pump sprayers i bought for spraying plants and bugs that i HAVE NOT used yet. they hold about a qt. so so. Just enough for a smoke in the back yard. will dig them out and have the wife put them thru the disk washer, if they are safe to do so, and use them next time...

One thing i would like to say you might want to go for the stainless steel ones with brass tube and nozzle because of food involved but ??

For back yard should be ok for plastic... Food police!!!  LOL

have also seen the pump sprayer used to inject larger cuts of meat .
