Just joined today and I understand it is proper to post an intro. I am in Allentown, PA and have been smoking for more than 25 years. I started with a Little Chief electric unit to smoke fish, Then I got a Brinkman charcoal smoker and actually went thru 3 of them. My smoker spends all year outside and even thought I cover it, I end up getting rust and they fall apart. Currently I am using a GOSM unit, my second one. This time I go the bigger model and love it.

As for other interests, I like photography, cooking, woodworking and making boomerangs. My boomerang website is at www.bvdrangs.com

Hi Bearcarver. Yes, you are close.. You mentioned Quakertown. Labor Day weekend I was at a butcher on Richlandtown Pike and got a rack of beef short ribs to smoke. The rack weighed 22 pounds and was cut into 4 pieces. I lucked out and only paid $2.50 a pound. It was really aw3esome after it was smoked. I'll post a photo when I figure out how.

Tomorrow I am making smoked meatloaf for the first time. Sounds really easy and I can't believe I never tried it before.

LOL---Actually I lived on Richlandtown Pike for 18 years until I went in the Army.

We were about a half mile from Barringer Bros, which is probably the butcher you were at. They make the best PA Dutch Ring Bologna in the area. They also have a store at the Allentown Fairgrounds.
