Glen,
Thank You for your service!
Welcome, from southern Ohio, to the best forum on the internet if you are looking to learn how to BBQ/smoke/brine/cure/inject. Well you get the picture if you can do it to something you put on a plate to eat then someone here has probably done it then smoked it.

Use the search bar at the top of the page and you will be led to the answer to most every question you can think of. If you don't find the answer there then just post it and someone will chime in with their opinion on the subject.

Always remember the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!!
Keep Smokin!!!

Thanks Bonz!  My dad was born in Marion, and most of our family live in either Mitchell, McDowell or down towards Morganton.  I have a few stragglers that live in Avery and Yancey counties.  I live in Bakersville (actually between there and Spruce Pine).  I also have family in Florida and Michigan.

Thats something, our place is in Marion, wife's family is from McDowell, Mitchell, Buncome, Avery, Yancey, Big Tom Wilson was her great, great grandfather, I know exactly where you are, real nice country around there, cold right now though, actually pretty cold here in north Fl. too.

Hi Navy.

Welcome

You will find a lot of useful information on this site.

Lot of ideas on different foods and ways to prepare them.

More things to smoke than I have time for.

If you have questions bring them up as there is a ton of experience on this site to draw from.

Also from NC. near Lexington.

Hi and Welcome Navyvet. I too thank you for your service. I was born and raised in Western NC myself. Spent many years hunting, fishing, and hiking Mt. Mitchell. I have friends that have a cabin in Busick, if you know where that is. Anyway, let us know if we can help you.

That's sure some beautiful country. I really like the Spruce Pine and Banner Elk area. Can't beat good mountain air. I'm sure you will get all of the help and encouragement you want from the good folks on this forum.

Keep smoking and post some pics, Joe
