Hello all, Jeff here, just joined tonight and looking to expand my cooking skills to include smoking meat. I first arrived here looking for info on venison jerky but after seeing some of the pulled pork pictures I might have to try that out too. I've never smoked anything before but have access to an offset smoker (brother's) and a bullet-type (father's) both of which have been used just a few times, if any (a shame!). I plan on reading up all I can, trying some venison jerky, then maybe branching out into the pork. Look forward to learning all I can from you barbecue masters out there....

Welcome to SMF !!!
May I suggest using the smoker on smoking pulled pork before you try jerky. Pulled pork is quite a bit more forgiving than jerky too smoke. It will give you an opportunity to learn the temperatures of the smoker and how it operates before diving straight into jerky (probably end up with better jerky going this route?). Just a suggestion..... and it is (kind of) like a free meal before smoking jerky !!!

like an old smokey rose...er suntin like that !!!
