Hey guys,

Looking for a larger indirect smoker. I've seen a few on here. Looking to spend around $600 or so. I'm a pretty avid smoker/grilled. Been smoking for years on my Sam's Club smoker, it's been great, but is starting to rust out and looking for something a little more heavy duty. Can't seem to find anything on the commercial market. Everything seems to be a cheaper built smoker or in the thousand plus dollar range. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Gary, I got a question for you? You wrote on your profile you like to build pits? I am looking to either purchase or built/have a new indirect pit built. You have any insight into where to go to purchase? I don't really want to spend more than 600-700 to get one. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard SMF!  You will find this site full of great information.

I saw your question to Gary about off set/in direct pits.  I was in the same spot you are a few years ago.  My highly modified el cheapo was finally headed to the scrap yard.  I finally settled on the Old Country Wrangler.  They sell it here in Texas at Academy Sporting Goods.  While it is not perfect, after a couple simple modifications I really like the smoker.  I will admit, that I plan to upgrade again at some point.  I am saving and plan to get a Lang 60, but that will not be for at least another 5 years.  I figure at that point I will have 8 years on my Old Country and it will be ready for another home.  

I looked at building my own pit, based upon the amount of time I have, it was not right for me.  However I have about 4 - 5 hours into modifying my Old Country.
