Grapho-Glass and Food Safety

Picked up some stuff to work on my smoker and noticed the home center had the Grapho-Glass stove "ropes".

I was going to pick some up, but in two places, the instructions say "keep away from food".

Does this just mean the food shouldn't touch the Grapho-Glass (no prob) or is the "rope" putting out some sort of chemical?

I'd like to seal things up, but would prefer not to develop a third arm.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I would be very suspicious if there is a label with that statement. I suspect it might give off some chemical under heat conditions. Better to be safe and find something else; opinion only.

The MSDS only mentions that it might produce fibrous glass dust (like with insulation I'd guess)

Since the rope is only fiberglass and graphite, it might be just an issue with fibers breaking loose and getting in the food and not chemicals.
