I started A big smoke this morning for my sons Grad party tomorrow, He wanted me to make pulled pork to go with the rest of the food so since he is so spoiled I took the day off work to stay home and smoke pork shoulders.

Here they are all rubbed up. The rub is Jeff's Rub with some extra brown sugar to make it a bit sweeter.

This is 6 boneless Shoulders at about 47 lbs.

And here they are on the Ok Joe at 8AM with a temp of 275°.

I will post more as the day goes on.

Thanks for looking

Sorry, I figured since I had the day off I should clean the house as well. Here it is 5 hours in.

Temp is holing at about 225° and the IT of each is between 150° and 160°.

Ok, so here is what they look like after 12.5 hours of cooking. There are two in the pan and one wrapped up. The other three are already wrapped up and in the cooler. They look great and smell fantastic. I will let them sit for a bit (maybe over night) before pulling.

Grad party is tomorrow and there is going to be a lot of food. I bugged Chef JimmyJ to help me with my quantities as I have not done a party like this before. So a BIG THANK YOU! to him.

I will post some pictures of the buffet tomorrow once it is all set up.

Thanks for looking.

Grad party went very well. Not very big, about 55 people came. The food was a hit.

This was my menu:

100 pieces Broasted Chicken

Pulled pork - I have 46 lb (raw) boneless shoulder w/buns

55 orders of potato wedges (3pcs per order)

Gallon of cole slaw

Baked beans 7.5 lb cans @2 cans

Cake for 48

Pasta Salad

Chips

Cookies

Brownies

Pop

Beer

Smore bar

Water

There was a lot of leftovers so some in the freezer for me, I will feed the guys at work and my wife will feed the girls she works with as well.

Here is the food:

Thanks for looking.

WOW!!!!

Next time you need more people to show up just drop us an invite.

That seriously looks  really good.  Did you not wrap you butts at all until they were going in the cooler?

Thanks for the update pics.

Thanks! The shoulders came out really good and moist. This time I did not wrap them until they were going into the cooler (I was out of tin foil). it was a long day of smoking but i got many compliments on the pork and people wanted to take some home with them so that is a good sign and makes you feel good.

It all looks great! Did your guests not eat much? That was about 7oz Pork and 2 pieces of chicken per, a man sized portion...JJ

JJ, they ate well but some were coming from other Grad parties (I did not factor this in) so they ate less. But that is ok the guys I work with are not complaining at all and I have leftovers in the freezer. So all is good.

Thanks for the Compliments guys, It is appreciated.

Uncle Eddie, unfortunately I do not have a lot of photos as I underestimated the amount of work and set up for the party it self. I did the party in a park so I could not do early setup, I was busy right up to the first person arriving.

b-one, Thanks we are very proud of him, he is a good kid.

haha - we have all been there before.  That was a lot of meat to set up.  I can only amazing all the other fixin's that went with it.

Cheers!

I've always found that most coworkers never complain when you bring in good eats for everyone the Monday after a BBQ.  I have 4-5 guys come by my desk every Friday to ask if I'm cooking over the weekend.....they want to know if they need to pack a lunch on Monday or not.
