I was asked to help out at Oktoberfest at Redstone Arsenal this weekend.  Helped MWR cook for the worker bees during the event.

They brought me a brand new Yoder 640 to play with and pecan pellets.

We did chicken wings, a huge pork loin, smoked rib eye steaks and then reverse seared them, smoked some fish and I brought bacon and made Pig Candy...(my version).

I can see why all of you love these smokers/cookers.  They are a blast to use and it has me wanting one now.  I was checking it out all over too....no leaks for smoke anywhere at all.  Clean up was easy!  Here are the only 2 pics I was able to get ....we were too busy!  Folks were fighting over our food!

That was the 1st batch of wings...we did over 500 of them.

This was my set up....they even turned it on a "seasoned" it for me before I got there!

Thanks for looking!

Looks great Kat!  Glad to hear your food was a success.  It sounds to me like you're gonna end up talking yourself into a pellet rig!

This thing was a dream to use.  I have played with a Traeger....and it was not as "heavy duty"....and smoke leaked everywhere.  I did not take my Mav...(forgot it) too see how true the temps in the chamber were.  It worked like a charm.  I have looked at the Green Mountain one...(or I think that is the name)....again...the metals that were used were not as thick.  This one held the heat beautifully and when I opened the door....temps came right back up with no issues.

The craft show were in last weekend had some Traegers on display and I was not impressed at all.  Much rather have my old reliable stick burner than one of those things
