Good deal on Members Mark Smoker!

  1. I was over at Sam’s Club at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall and saw that Members Mark stainless vertical propane smoker marked down to $360 from $660!. If the wife hadn’t just bought a bedroom set for the grandkids I would have snatched that boy up! But a budget is a budget, anyways I got my new stainless 3 burner grill this summer (sigh)!

    That’s a hell of a deal though!

I think I remeber reading that while it had good temp control, it produced very little smoke. I remeber seeing one, and it had tiny little chip trays. No room for chunks. I didn't look close enoughto see about mods though. Out of my budget at the time.

My advice, save your money. Like Wes said, it has only small chip trays. You will not be able to get enough smoke with this arrangement. The larger the chunks of wood, the longer they last. The chips will be expensive and will not produce enough smoke over a long period to be effective. The unit s also too small. IT looks like a sturdy unit bur who ever designed this thing didn’t know what they were doing.

    Save your money.

  4. Well, this guy called me about a High Country bow I had for sale last year, and next thing you know, here is this Members Mark Grand Hall smoker jest sittin’ there on my deck! I said what the heck? Last thing I remember I was pickin up some baby backs at Sam’s Club and I walked pass this smoker and I noticed there was only 1 left (3 days ago there was 6), and it had been further marked down to $345. Also, good news, they fixed the spotty wood burning problem by perforating the burners the full length so the wood drawers are evenly exposed to flame, and I noticed that if you remove the screens in the bottom of the chip drawers you can use twinkie size chunks of wood in the drawers! That was great because I could only get my ECB up to 200° today and I was trying to do some baby backs, and well you know the story! So I fired up that new smoker, and oboy a front loader with nice thick insulated walls! With 3 nice big porcelain coated trays! I’ll try some Canadian Bacon on it tomorrow! Ohhh, I’m a hap hap happy boy! with a brand new stainless toy…LOL!

p.s. I actually oversmoked the ribs a bit! But I heard no complaints!
