Am I way out of line here? My daughters birthday party is to morrow at one. Anything I should be sure to do for three bone in, skinless 6 pound shoulders? Cooking time might be longer due to heat absorption right? Party is at 1:00 I think I'll put em in at ten and stay up with it til two (keep up with wood chips and spritz with apple cider vinegar/apple juice) then let it cook through the night til 10 or 11am.

I did 4 Butts 2 weeks ago it took 18 hours at 230 degrees on a GOSM smoker.

I'm not sure how the vinager would work I have never tried it maybe experiment with one of the Butts. I see nothing wrong with injecting the others with Apple Juice.

If you plan on Foiling it at 165 you can just pour some Apple Juice in the foil with the pork.

Welcome to SMF!  I inject butts with a mix of apple cider vinegar, olive oil and some of my rub all mixed together. Do this after you put on the rub. And I always finish with SoFlaQuer's finishing sauce, although I use half the receipe per butt. Be sure to check it out.

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us.

This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

Many of our members have years of experience in smoking meat.  They are more than happy helping Newbies learn the art.

We have members who cure there own Bacon, Hams, Jerky, Snack Sticks, Make Their own Sausage, etc. if you want to learn,
this is the place.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of them and follow their advice. You won't be sorry, you will be making great Q in no time at all...

Just remember, when curing your own meats follow the instructions included with the cure to the letter, this is not something to experiment with.

Never use more cure no mater if it is Tender Quick or Cure #1 or Cure #2 than the manufacturer says to use, this can be very dangerous.

Tender Quick and Cure#1 or Cure #2 are not interchangeable, neither Cure #1 interchangeable with Cure #2 or vise versa

Well it went great! The family loved the pulled Pork. Everyone would taste it and their eyes would get real big and they'd say "oh my god"!! Then they'd ask how I cooked it and my answer was "thirteen hours in the smoker". They were all pretty amazed. Yep, I was the hero at that party. There were alot of leftovers but everyone took home more then their share. The wife thought that was a lil rude to see one cousin take a huge, heaping pile of pork home to her husband. It was great though.

Oh yeah, even got a request to cater a wedding!!! How 'bout that???
