I am a teacher off for the summer but I do have a couple of workshops I am attending.  The first of these is on teaching with technology and we had to make a how to video that had no voice to teach someone how to do something.  I chose something I know and that is BBQ.   I had two use two medium so I picked video and the Internet.  Let me know what you think if I was thorough enough without getting to complicated.  The object is to give someone enough information to complete a task without over bearing them with unnecessary details.  This was done today with a smoke I just finished.    You can read the words better if you full screen it from youtube which is how I will present it.  Hope you enjoy...

Looks real good to me!   [IMG]

However , I could not be your worst critic, since I haven't the slightest idea how to make a video!

I don't know what kind of school you would show this in. Phrases like "wash & Rinse your butt" and "putting this and that on your meat", and "the bone should slide right out" could either get you in trouble or have 'em rolling in the aisles.

I teach science this is just a video for a teachers workshop I am in.  The idea would be to show someone how to complete a task such as a lab without talking so student who learn visually would be able to grasp it.  I just added the bbq to give me something to do today.

I think you did really good, especially since you couldn't talk about it at all.  Now I haven't smoked any butts yet, so I can't say for sure how accurate it is, but from all I have read on here it looked pretty close to right on if not.  I found it quite informative, and easy to understand.  If you do any other videos on smoking letting me know, I'd really like to see them.

OK, then maybe just a chuckle or two.

Don't get me wrong----I loved it----Wish I knew how to do that.

The only problem I had was I expanded it to 27" HD, and it was hard to keep up with the words being spread out that far on my screen, LOL then I didn't want to miss anything by taking my eye off to figure out how to put it back to a smaller size.

See what I mean about not being much on computers???[IMG]

Really nice job.  I run a corporate training department, so in a way, this is right up my ally.  But I don't get to deal with such tasty topics!  Only things like leadership skills, customer service and communications.  Man, I'd much rather be training on BBQ!!

I couple very minor points.  Early on you tell us what we'll need (pork butt, rub, etc.).  Then during the instruction phase you introduce mustard and aluminum foil, which weren't mentioned in the "what you need" section.  If you could include them, that would be nice.  The only other thing is some of the lines could be written in a more active voice.  But hey, those are REALLY minor (my trainers hate me at times....).

You did a great job of instruction without the verbal instruction.  You gave clear direction, and complete demonstration.  I think nearly anyone would watched it would be able to follow along and make some tasty Q!

    Great job!

You know what I had so much fun making this one I just might do some more.  I was suprised how many videos like this you can find on YouTube.

Thanks for the advice looking onto adding that.

Thanks meateater nothing goes with BBQ like the blues.

I agree that you should add mustard and foil to  the "what you need" section.

Those first couple slide changes before that where you zoom way in on part of the slide and immediately change the slide to something else, that's just plain annoying "in-your-face" BS.  When I see that, I will usually turn off the video.

A couple of the later slides with more print could have been left on longer, and the credits rolled slower, to give more time to read them.

Otherwise, it looks like great instruction and great Q.
