I love my vacuum sealer and wouldn't know what to do without it. I vacuum the ribs with a little sauce and when I'm ready for them I either thaw them out in the fridge and slam them on the grill to caramelize the sauce or I throw the whole bag in some boiling water for about 20 minutes. Either way they are excellent. Looks like you've already pulled a vacuum on that T-shirt she is wearin so you already know how to do it.

Got a FoodSaver V485 on clearance. It's very basic, but works good.

Bags and rollls can be a very expensive consumable product. Shop around for the best price. I get 6"x12" vac bags for under $.17ea when the go on sale.

Had a couple of ribs left and experimented. Defrosted in microwave and reheated gently in microwave. Still rocked! So that tells me the easiest way to reheat works well, and the other suggestions probably would work better ...that is as long as you apply your brain to the reanimation task at hand.

Don't they make some sort of vacuum thingie that would extract the air out of ANY BAG? Figgered you could just shut a ziploc quickly after sucking and basically freeze your food with little air in the bag. Not as well as a pro system, but damn well good enough! Any thoughts?

I picked up one of those Reynolds hand vacuum toys and the bags. They have since discontinued this system. There is a big difference between getting the air out and getting most of the air out. I just pulled some chicken breasts out of the freezer that I had sucked air out of before sealing. Freezer burn around the edges. Ones still in a vacuumed bag look perfect.
