Hello Everyone;

I am new to the site and to the world of smoking. I just bought a Brinkmann Smoke N Pit and am both excited and nervous at the same time. I know the learning curve is steep but it looks like a lot of fun.

I am planning my first smoke in the next day or two and to be honest I’m not expecting anything I cook will be all the edible. But you have to start someplace.

you'll be fine. Nothing to be worried about. It's only meat! Might I suggest a pork butt if you're worried about your first smoke? It's a pretty forgiving piece of meat. But you'll be in for a nice long smoke to depending on the size. Maybe trying your hand at a simple fattie would be a nice way of easing yourself into the smoking world.

Welcome to the SMF, as a starter, try signing-up for Jeff's 5-day Ecoarse. Good reading/review of some smoking essentials.

First off welcome to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot og good people here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking meat. I think you should look up the E-course it's free and very informative to boot. Then just go get something to smoke and for you grab a whole chicken or maybe rack of pork spare ribs. There pretty easy and believe me they will taste good. Just hang out and watch the threads and learn see whats being smoked and then jump with both feet and go smoke something.
