What is the ball valve on the side of the lower 1/2 of your smoker for?

Do you pipe in a smok'inator or a little blower into it?

I like your up-close and personal shots, I need to copy that for mine! Yummie!!

The ball valves allow for more air flow and control when smoking. When using the Silver Smokey Joe for the base of the smoker the lower vent gets blocked with ash. So the addition of side vents allows for better control of temps and higher temps.  I do hook up my mailbox to one of the vents when cold smoking. You can hook up a blower like the PartyQ to the vent also if one so desired.
