Contractor friend has 3 empty barrels on site I can have. They contained 1 of a 2-part spray insulation. Anybody know if these are OK to use. I will burn out and sand, but have reservations. Free is not always best.

Once cleaned, burnt out and sanded they will be fine. I know the ones from the insulation companies here have an epoxy lining. Tough as nails to get out. I'd have it sand blasted. The cost to do my drum and lid inside and out was $25, at a local powder coat shop. I had them powder coat the exterior with high temp powder coat for another $50.

Thank you. Not sure about powder coat around here. Do you think a body shop can recommend a local powder coat shop?

Yep. They may even be able to do the sand blasting for you. I do metal art work so that's why I use the powder coat shop.

Make sure you drill all your holes prior to sand blasting or burning the barrels out.
