Temps will be easier to control once you do a couple smokes in it. Need to get a good seasoning in it.

Nice build, I really like the way those minis look. Have just a slight amount of a custom build to em.

http://www.menards.com/main/mobile/p-2250051-c-10141.htmLooks way nice Justin, Did you sear too?

Menards if you have one has a grate hook so I can quickly and easily go from smoking to grilling...then put the grate back and shut her down.

That little tool is the best mini gadget, wouldn't leave home without it.

Thanks Keith, I didn't sear this time... Will do next go round ! Thanks for the heads up on the grate tool... I don't have one of them, but have a DO hook that might work ! If not, I'll get one... We have Lowe's & Home Depot, no Menards yet ! Looks handy to have ! Thumbs Up

No need for a special tool. My welding gloves work great for grate removal. I have three or four other grates so I can just slap a cold one on if needed. Channel locks, vise grips and pliers work well too.

  16. For tools, my most used ones are old long handle meat forks I have bent hooks in the top fork area and cut them to make custom tools to move my grates around and use to stir the coals.  Harbor freight has some inexpensive leather welding gloves that work well to keep the hot zingers off my fingers and wrists to use for as full cover pot holders.

    Works for me.

I use a pair of profession grade tongs. I figure that's what I do at work so why not at home...
