Just seared on the kettle....could have used the drum to sear but forgot...duh  lol

Smoked @ 250 on the Big Poppa UDS to an IT of 133...After the smoke i gave a quick sear on the kettle grill.  It came out very juicy and tasty!  I used Jack Stack all purpose and Mcomormick steak.

I have found it at Costco.  Last year....it was about $2 per pound less.  Now that folks are catching on....the $ has gone up big time here.  Or maybe it's just due to the time of the year.

Keith, Looks great! Next time use the one stop Mini for your smoke and sear! Love Tri!
Thanks Case...and ha ha you know i could have seared on the drum but had a brain fart!   Originally i was going to sear and then smoke but changed my mind after i already fired up the kettle.   Couldn't let the lit kettle fuel go to waste because it was good and hot!

Kat our Costco doesn't open until Fall.... This was 7.99 lb @ the butcher but it was freshly trimmed right in front of me.  $2 per lb would be too good to be true..heck i'd settle for twice that!

Nice Keith!  That looks outstanding!  I've not found any tri-tip at our local places yet...but it does seem to be catching on everywhere else.

looks awesome...i just did a tri the other day for steak night..yes, ill admit i ate a whole 1.5lb tri tip to myself...haha. the wife had a chuck eye. in my defense i was working outside all day in the hot sun, scrubbing a concrete pad(that has my smokers, and grill on) time to clean all the grease and other things that have been spilt over time, or stained the concrete. lol. and didnt eat one thing all day until that tri tip showed up at my house. lol. thanks for sharing.

.do u have a crest Red? one of the bigger crest marketplaces that has a butcher counter? they always have them. smaller crests have them around here in the meat bin, but only on the weekends and theyre only choice. but still do the trick.

Not to hijack a thread but.......HOLY C*** T&B, you ate a what?? whole TT?? LMAO, I'm impressed. Hey WFIsmoker......sweet job on that TT...nuthin like blood juice on the plate to show it's not overcooked. And Kats correct...Costco has awesome TT, choice grade and a good price, if there's one near you. Those are also terrific sliced thin and piled on a sub roll with some au jus on the side

Looks Great FWI !!!!

I too would buy a bunch of it at $2 a pound.

We don't have it in our stores, but I would try it at anything less than $4.99.

Nice Job!!!  Looks Perfect !!
