Big Game -- Thought I would attach some pics I snapped to show what I found helpful to use. I know someone else here at SMF did this too.


After 11 hours run time cooking a Pork butt.. still maybe 1/3rd of a basket left.
 
thanks. i take it you use the pot to make the hole for the lit coals?

looks like a good idea. im smoking rabbit tonight. ill try that kind of method. my fire box isnt quite that big but the idea will be the same.
 
Correct. I find with the lump it just does not stack as well so some sort of 'chute' helps to keep it out of the way. I have not done this and the lit coals will not get enough oxygen and might be snuffed out.
