  1. I initially started a thread HERE  and never got around to it last weekend but was determined this weekend to smoke some ribs. I only did one rack in case I screwed it up somehow.

Well it was more of a time consuming process that I thought. I had to constantly keep stoking it to keep the temp up, I never got above 200 but I did the 2-2-1 method on it then finished it off on the grill for about 20 mins on high to get a crisp to it.

to be honest, i thought I was in over my head but the true test was when I took my first bite and fell into instant heaven with it. They were AMAZING!!! I didn't even need bbq sauce for them, wow!!!

Here they are getting ready to go on the grill, just used some Famous Dave's BBQ Rib dry rub.

    About half way done

    All done!!!

Learned a lot on this first smoke, some ways to make things better (more holes into the pan for ventilation), etc. Next time I plan on smoking more items at once to get more out of it.

    I'm hooked!

Way to go Rascus[IMG]  Keep on practicing, like Rod said, start with the less expensive meats, experiment, learn your smoker and most of all...LEARN PATICENCE[IMG]  Good Que doesn't just show up on the grate. You gotta let it do it's thing. Once you learn your sweet spots, you'll be off in a flash.

Practice over and over, and soon you'll be doing Briskets[IMG]

  4. Nice job with your first ribs...they look very tasty!!! Sounds like you learned a bunch about your smoker today...thanks for the Q-view.[IMG]

  5. Thanks oldschool! I was going to try and attempt a brisket for a BBQ i plan on having at my house in a few weeks. Not sure if I'm fully ready for that. Think I'm going to try some chicken next.

How much wood chips does one use during a process? I think I went through half a bag of them.
