I am looking at getting my first smoker. I know I am not ready to go the charcoal route until I get more comfortable with smoking. with that said, which is a better option, electric or propane?

Hi joe. Welcome to SMF. I would recommend using the search bar and doing some research on both. Each has its pros and cons. That being said, I have never used an electric. I have a master forge propane that was purchased at lowes a few years or so back. With some reading about the unit on here and a little out of the box thinking, I gave it a bunch of mods. It was a little rough in the beginning but after the mods, it runs easily and efficiently. One plus to this unit is that it's not huge and can travel with me camping and such, without having to need any power.
