Added the intake riser to this model, don't really care for the difference it make's in the temp. flucuation, not as steady temp's and not as efficient burn's...IMO i like the bend over model

Hmmm..a possible problem/fix for the riser model. At least DOUBLE the pipe size. Airflow restriction is a function not only of the pipe size, but the pipe length. Maybe even triple... with those 2 90's in there...

On Edit: Once you are a few inches away from the 90 off the base, you could change to Sched. 80 PVC for weights and cost reduction. Use a plastic valve even.
 
Looks good bubba, I added a riser intake on the one i'm doing now. I'll have to see how it burns, might end up taking it off.
