I just bought a Smoke n Grill, for 3 bucks.  It's going to need a new thermometer, and cleaned up, but it was hard to pass up.  However, the door latch is messed up.  How do I get the door to stay shut on this thing, once I get ready to go?

In what way is it messed up?  Can you post a few pictures?  You may be able to jerry-rig it, or you may need to replace it.

It might help to wedge something on the back side of the latch, like a c-washer:

If all else fails, remember that almost every part of the ECB will bend.  Bending the door the right way tightened up my latch quite a bit.

Glad to hear it.  Now you just need to make sure the door doesn't let too much smoke out.  A little is fine.

Hey Scott, They come out of the box needing a new thermometer, so no loss there. Unfortunately the way they are made, if you remove them you will have a gaping hole in the lid.  Looks  like the door issue is resolved. If you do some of the mods, you really don't need the door anyway. I can't remember the last time I opened mine.

I would run a good bead of high heat RTV around either the door or where the door closes against the body of the smoker and then let it dry, that should stop it from leaking.
