Don't forget tonight is the Daylight Savings time switch!

On Sunday, March 14th at 2:00 am the clocks go to 3am and we all lose an hour! If you are planning a long overnight smoke like I am (like a brisket or pork butt), plan accordingly!!!

I went ahead and posted this in Beef and Pork (didnt know where else people woudl read it, but feel free to re-post anywhere else!)

Good point. It could be an unpleasant surprise for somebody hoping to catch an hour nap after the smoke.

Man, do I hate going back to DST.

I wouldn't have a problem with DST if it was year-round. But time changes are a terrible idea. There was a study in 1998 that concluded there was a 17% increase in traffic accidents on the Monday following the shift to DST. Workplace injuries caused by sleep debt result in the loss of tens of millions of work days every year. On top of that, it doesn't save much energy, if any; in fact, there are studies now that suggest DST causes people to waste more energy. When it was dreamed up in the late 19th century, lighting was the main use for electricity, now it makes up less than 5% of our energy use.

Thanks for the heads-up, luckily some folks still rely on the internal temp when making decisions. It's all good my friend.
