i been using gas grills for a few years now and decided i missed the taste that a charcoal grill gives...and if i was gonna buy one..might as well get a charcoal grill with a offset smoker :)

i went to home depot and they had the charboil silver smoker..looked too thin and cheaply made and the lid did not close right..big gap....so i went to lowes and the had the "super pro char-griller with optional sidebox"...what is the difference between this one and the Chargrill smokin pro that everyone talks about here? the price was $129 for grill plus $54 for the sidebox...

As far as i can tell from the CG website, the only difference is that the pro comes with the sfb. The super is just the grill and the sfb is an extra.

I just got the super pro and fire box from lowes , I like it. I picked it over the charbroil because there is almost 50 lbs more weight to the char-griller.
The only differences from the smokin' pro is that you have to punch out that football shaped knock out before adding the side firebox. And that warming rack above the cooking surface.
Before installing the bottom half of the cooking chamber, cut a 2x4 or 6 so it just fits inside lenghtways. stand chamber on end , move the board so it is right next to the tack weld you are working on at the time and give a flat screwdriver a good wack with a hammer and move on to the next weld. It really is easy !!!!!!

Heres a thread on it. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/for...ad.php?t=16590
