So i have a 13lb butt in the freezer that i've been hesitant to smoke just because the idea of a possible 20-26 hour smoke. I'm wondering about cutting it in two halves. Just didn't know if this was a good idea or not? I realize on would have the bone and other not, also wondering if that would make for dry meat. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Maybe you can ask the butcher at the store you purchased it to cut it in half.  They may be able to cut it so there is some bone in both halves.

unfortunately these are purchased in cryo packs at my local Sams club

Is that one 13 pound cryovac package???

If so it is most likely in two pieces.

Sometimes I will cut the big butts in half, smoke the (bone in) butt for pulling, and pull the (boneless) butt at an IT of 185º-190º for slicing.

Good luck
