While back I posted my Snake Venum sauce and promised a sweet version of this sauce. This sweet and sassy sauce is for those that prefer milder sweeter sauces. Personally I like the more heat and vinagar but many seem to like this liquid candy!

Ricks Copper Head BBQ

Sweet and Sassy Sauce

The Mildest Venom I Make

64 oz Ketchup (use Brooks if you can find it or the cheap generic)
12 oz Beer
1 cup Brown Sugar
½ cup Sorghum Molasses ( use Briar Rabbit if you canâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t find Sorghum) note: Sorghum is a grain not a brand
1 tbs chipotle sauce
1 tbs Garlic Powder
½ tbs red pepper flakes

1tsp black pepper
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp fennel seed
½ tsp Hungarian Paprika
½ tsp Ground Clove

1 cups apple juice (reserve)

Combine all but apple juice and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, reducing by one quarter. Stir often scraping bottom and sides of sauce pan.

Once reduced, stir in apple juice and remove from heat. Store the sauce in the refrigerator. Use this sauce for dipping or baste only last few minutes to prevent burning.

Thanks for posting the recipe, Rick. I missed your Snake Venom thread, but I'll find it. Like you, I don't care for the too sweet.

thanks, I added this right next to the snake bite rcipe in my bbq file.

I will try it sometime soon.
