So I smoked some chuckies over the weekend:

I took one into work for sammies on Monday so I decided to make chili with the rest last night.

I didn't get any prep views but I'm so proud of this batch that I had to share the pot view.

The smoked meat kicked my chili up to a level that I cannot even describe. I think I make pretty good chili, but this brought a tear to my eye!

Here it is resting on the stove:

Had to share. If you need yet another excuse to fire up the smoker, this is it.

Sweet. Another one for the leftovers page.

Is that macaroni in your chili?

Looks great! Using smoked meat in a old standby recipe definitely changes the taste.

Good looking pot of chili. That needs a loaf of homemade sourdough bread to go with it. [IMG]

It is macaroni...it was made separate, but I threw it in since there was so much left over after we ate the first round.

That does sound good! This pot just didn't need anything!

So I brought the leftovers in to work today. Man the office smells great! Too many people drooling!

Smoked chili has been on my list for a while now.
That looked so good that I might have to stop dawdling and actually make up a batch!

FiU I saw an episode of Diners Driveins and Dives where Guy was at this place that does only chili and this guy made all of his red chili with smoked meat...had a commercial smoker in the kitchen and smoked tri-tip and all kinds of stuff and then pulled it and put it in the chili...that's where this idea came from and it was well worth it!

I'm thinking that before it gets cold this year I'll do a big smoke, freeze the meat and try some different combinations and see what I like best for the chili.
