Recently I moved and located in Indy. At my last parish they had some charcoal grills (6) that they did the best darn chicken on. Our priest and one of the guys built them. You could do 36 half chickens on each grill at a time, they had flipper grills to make things easier. I don't know how they were funded when they built them, but it seems that it would be expensive. Now I was fortunate that when I called they gave me their incredible recipe. I had to sign in blood that I wouldn't go commercial with it. Ha! Now I'm looking into building some grills for the church here. I was thinking about maybe 250 gal propane tanks (I Know the danger) would work well if we were to cut them in half and ending up with 2 grills for each tank used. I am tempted to make smokers but I think we could get this up and running quicker if we just made the grills. Does anyone have pics or drawings that would help with this? I would appreciate any help coming my way.

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Thanks Meateater, the site looks interesting. Maybe one day I'll build a smoker. I love to do ribs but I've had to kind of fake it. I do them low & slow but its a combination of my grill and oven.

thanks again

Glad to have you with us!

Would you mind sharing that chicken recipe with us?

The recipe is from a little old church lady and it belonged to her beloved husband that passed into his reward. On his dying lips he made her promise that she would never divulge the secret recipe. The sweet lady has gone to confession numerous times for giving me the secret. How can I destroy the trust this sweet lady has entrusted to me. Oh wait! You might say she was a little macabre, making me sign a blood oath, maybe just maybe I could tell the secret if I whisper I'll think about it, though there may be repercussions that would be horrible.
