With a 314 area code I'm guessing your in the St. Louis area. I drive up from the bootheel to the airport on a regular basis and always loads of wood going to St. Louis from the Perryville area north. You might check around and see that area (local papers and such) if your looking for large quantities.

thanks for the info. i'll do a little research and see what i can find. i have a very large smoker that i run 3-4 times a week and need a new supplier for my wood.

Cherry Wood is the way to go. To bad you get only a small load with a mature tree. Here in Charllote we have mostly flowering cherry. The trunks only grow to 10" or so. I am also looking for pear and apple. We had a drought this summer and cherrys are short lived trees so wood might be found.

Not to hi-jack a post but....is cherry wood just for stick burner's or could it also be used as a chunk wood in a lumper ?? i have never used it but think it would make a great smoke ??? again sorry to take off-topic if i should start a different thread just lemme-know
