I did the stack, tuning plates and fire box mods for my Char-Griller Pro.
I also insulated around the lids for heat loss with stove gasket. My temps are nice and even throughout the smoke chamber now, and I'm using less wood as a result.
My question is about the fire box. I replaced the melted coal rack with expanded metal but I'm wondering if I set the grates too high in the box. My fire is now even with the opening to the smoke chamber. The intake vent is now underneath the fire. Should this fire grate be lowered so that the intake air is flowing over the embers as opposed to underneath or is it a non issue?
Thank you for your consideration.
