Found a really cheap steel drum to use for a smoker build. Downside is it was used for brake cleaner prior to me getting it. I've been looking online to see if there's any surefire way to clean this thing out thoroughly enough or if the metal's too porous and this thing is basically no good.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with a similar situation to this, and if there's any amount of scrubbing and burning that's gonna clean this drum out, or if I should just find another food grade one somewhere else.

Yes you can clean it out. Give it a good washing fallowed by a good long hot burn. On the other hand barrels are pretty cheap. You don't have your location on your profile so I cant steer you on where to find one. Here I can get a food grade for 10.00

I also see this is your first post. When you get a chance will you drop by roll call so everyone can give you a proper SMF welcome?

Happy smoken.
