I wasn't sure where to put this, so since it's recycled, Pork Loin (Canadian bacon) and Pork Butt (Buck Board Bacon) I put it under pork.

I have it under "Cooking with Cast Iron" on my website and the only area here close to that topic is for "Dutch Oven cooking", I didn't think it should go there.

I would like to see an area designated just to "Cast Iron Cooking", Dutch oven Cooking would be under that forum, followed by, "General Dutch Oven Information", "Dutch Oven Recipes", "Special Dutch Oven Cooking Tips", and "Grilling with Cast Iron", General CI cooking, etc...

Anyway I talk too much, so here goes.

Buck Board Bacon & Canadian Bacon Deep Dish Pizza

We just got back from a week of Boy Scouts Summer Camp, I had some leftovers and had a tube of dinner rolls that opened up in the cooler, so being the type of person that despises wasting food (that's why I'm a bit overweight), I decided to recycle.

    • Started by cooking up the leftover Buck Board Bacon

    • Onion
    [IMG]

    • Canadian Bacon
    [IMG]
    • Pressed in the dinner rolls and added some olive oil
    [IMG]

    • Added sauce followed by Spices, Oregano, Basil, Salt, Pepper, Crushed Red Pepper, Parmesan Cheese,
    [IMG]
    • A layer of Mozzarella.

    • Added the toppings
    [IMG]

    • Dribbled on some more sauce
    [IMG]

    • Added a second layer of cheese, in retrospect I wish I would have added some mild cheddar and drizzled the top with my Basil infused Olive Oil as well, I saw the cheddar in the fridge after the pizza was done!

    • Baked at 350° for thirty minutes.

    • Removed from pan to cool on cooling rack 10 minutes, the rolls slightly pulled apart at this point, I need to pinch them together better next time.

    • Here' ya go!

So easy.... a caveman can do it, the results were pretty good.

My wife kept saying them rolls should only be in the oven for 12 minutes, I said well we will see what happens.

The pizza was in the oven for a little over thirty minutes and the crust was fine.

I thought that was bacon, and that's close to quiche! Looks great!

    You guys are good.

It would have been easier to guess if the white balance was a bit better, the kelvin on the camera was too high making the image too warm.

The guesses you guys made gave me some great ideas for my next CI Cook.

  4. OK, Bacon & Cheese - I was close.  And using rolls makes it kind of like a quiche!

Great recipe and use of leftovers.  Looks delicious!  Another on the list of things to try myself. - Thanks!
