As an airline pilot I end up eating a lot of junk if I’m not careful. My latest brisket turned out real well so I divided it up and brought some with me. This morning I had to leave the hotel in Omaha at 6am and decided to eat what I had in my room for breakfast. Luckily, the hotel had a fridge and a mic in my room, plate was provided by the hotel as well.

Nice!  I'm not a breakfast food fan, but I can eat lunch and dinner for breakfast.

Thanks. I usually eat a high protein and fat breakfast like bacon and eggs. Keeps me going for a long time. I can often skip lunch and save up for something great for supper.

I've been curious, how many nights a year do you think you spend in hotels?

That's a lot of time on the road, thank you for your hard work!

You should have a small smoker stashed at your regular hotels and tip a concierge to fire up a brisket when your 14 hrs out! Hm, that was a joke, but now that I think about it a buddy of mine Is a pilot that hates eating hotel food. I might recommend that to him! Thanks for taking care of me and my family on our travels!

It's a lot of time on the road but it gives me time to plan my next smoking or grilling. On this trip I was able to order a Maverick ET-733 thermometer.

Are you on a ketogenic diet, and also do IF?

Kind of. Several years ago my weight was getting too high and the Doc said my glucose level was too. I really hate diets but I read the Atkins book and decided to try it. It worked for me but an additional positive side effect was I lost the rollercoaster daily feeling of hunger. My blood sugar and weight are much better and I can skip a day of eating if I want and it's no big deal. For the most part I can eat whatever I want if I keep the weight off. I have to stay healthy to keep flying and currently I still take no medication. I do take a number of vitamins.
