Hi all,

I use a Brinkmann Cimmaron and was wondering if anyone has experience with mods to this smoker to get a more even heat distribution. It's a side firebox horizontal, and this Saturday I pushed a grill surface thermometer from side to side to see what temps I was getting and what range. Well, my lid top thermometer (built in, original) was reading about 225, the grill surface thermometer was pushing 350 on the firebox side and under 200 on the far side. Kinda explains why I'm either nurning things or they take forever to get done. The smoker has a short diagonal baffle where the firebox meets the cooking chamber, and I rigged some foil on it to about double it's size, but I'm still getting wild results. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and the buckboard and Canadian bacon came out great, keeping them in the middle of the cooking area. Good breakfast Sunday!

Thanks Fatback, looks like I have some fabricating to do. This smoker still turns out some good grub, but with the uneven temps I'm opening it too much to move things around. Hoping to get it to just about the set-and-forget point.

OK, not set-and-forget, but a lot less sit-and-worry-the-stuff-on-the-left-is-burning-open-it-up-move-things-around-lose-heat-repeat game. I'll get there.
