Boston Butt...Brine or no Brine?

    I've read the stickies, but I haven't seen too many people calling for brining a boston butt. Whaddya think? Too salty?

    No need for a brine on a Pork Butt. Way too much fat. You'll be moist enough.

    Not required. Ya can, but butts are all set for moist/flavor. Some DO inject, fruit based cocktails usually.

    Thanks for the speedy responses! I guess I'll just try an injection of jim dundee's honey brown ale. Mmmmmmmmm aaaaalllleeeee (homer simpson drool)

    Can't go wrong with malt. Malt...meat...good!

    For butts I like to use a 3-1 mix of pineapple juice and capt morgans spice rum...inject it , and let it sit over night...the pineapple juice is a natural tenderizer .. really adds a nice flavor also...Good Luck..

    i brine and inject ALL my butts..........from the first one on..........now wether or not it helped.....no clue.......BUTT..........i did get rated in a fellow smokers top 5 of all the butts he has done/tasted..........in my first one......thankx smokebuzz........
