I know its getting late to be asking questions for turkey day but I am doing boneless breasts instead of whole turkey(nobody eats the dark meat here) Was just wondering what to put on turkey beforei smoke it? Rub, salt and pepper? any other ideas? Think im gonna try coke and apple juice in water pan.Gonna use apple wood for smoking. Can the apple juice still be used? any1 ever used maple for turkey? will post pics tomorrow as progress is done

Never too late.
I would use your favorite rub. Or rub with salt and pepper, some paprika and ground sage, and onion powder.
Because it's boneless it will probably cook quicker than a Breast with a bone in or a whole bird. You can use apple juice, and apple wood..............You can never have to much apple. As far as using maple syrup, Heck yes! you could inject it with Shellbellc's recipe of Maple syrup and butter. Or use it as a glaze, but I would put it on at the very end of the cook, because the sugars will tend to burn easy.
Hope this helps
Happy Thanksgiving.

I think the butterball ones are down to 3 lbs now. use to be 4 1/2. Probably no more than 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do now. Memphis rub, salt, pepper, spritz with apple juice. Sounds good.
