Went to a "Rib-fest" today. Evry single booth boiled ribs in sometin or other. Bunk is the word for all of that crap.
Boiling= pouring out the flavor. I like ribs because they taste like ribs. Not pineapple juice or spiced water.
Ribs are ribs. They've been killed once, why kill them again?

Never boil ribs. Do you boil your steak? NOT!!!!!

I've never been a big fan of the par-boiled meat.
Cheat way to get tender meat in my opinion.
I've boycotted bbq joints that par boil.

Darn straight.

Unless yer frying them that is. My mother STILL boils her ribs. And I STLL ask her for the juice. Decent stock now that it has all the rib flavor.

Bah- what type of Tom Foolery is this you say? Seems to me those folks need to spend some time here!

Anyone who boils ribs should be flogged with a wet noodle.

Every time you boil ribs, God kills a cute and cuddly puppy.

Isn't that kinda what we do when we foil them with liquid for the 2hrs for tenderness

.

I used to pressure cook them until very tender and finish with BBQ sauce on the grill...until I got my smoker! But everyone did love them, only took an hour to complete

When we foil them they already have the Smoke & the foil braises them in their own juices, Smoke flavor & a little added spritz (moisture for the braise). Pre-boiling boils all the meat flavor out before the smoke.

When I go into a restaurant that has BBQ Ribs on the menu I embarrass my family every time cause I ask if they are really BBQ, or are they Pre-cooked & thrown on the Grill to burn some BBQ sauce on the surface & called BBQ ribs.

I almost never get Ribs in a restaurant because almost always the menu says BBQ Ribs only to mean that they have BBQ Sauce on them.

BOIL 'EM! BOIL 'EM! BOIL 'EM!......

Er.. Well... That is if you are making a big ole pot of the old world type "Saurkraut and ribs"

Add a few taters, some onions maybe a couple of apples.....

At the risk of banishment, I don't think that I will knock too hard on anyones ways to cook their own food. I do understand that there are ways that are considered more "Pure" than others and that there are commercial "Mass Production" methods as well as folks that just do it differently.

I freeley admit it, I am a sell out and I can be had cheap! A plate full of food in front of me and I can be your best freind and an even better freind if the food taste good!

Let the flame wars begin!
