I am smoking a brisket for my son's 9th birthday tomorrow. The party is at noon (thanks honey) so I had to start it tonight. I will smoke it 3 to 4 hours then put it in the oven on about 230 for the night. Hopefully it will be done about 10 in the morning.

All ready to go.

In goes the brisket (put rub on it 24 hours ago and injected it).

A fatty which I'll smoke in the morning (filled with pepperoni, diced tomatoes, and mozzarella).

And for fun, about 100 water grandades for the kids (and me).

That is sure to be a fun party with the grenades, and also a tasty feast for your boy and his buddies!!! Looking forward to watching the brisket and fatty smoke as it gets to be done, and sliced.

Holler if you have questions!

Now that's a summer setup, good food and water gernades,

bert ,
sounds like you're going to have as much fun than him with those grenades...my youngest just turn 9 and we had a ball with his bday
happy bday to your son and happy fathers day to you....post pics

Again, inspired by the Q-View, I've tried something new. I'm disappointed with the results.... Tried to probe the water grenade fatty an hour ago, and well, let's just say it was a bad idea.

I think everyone deserves a happy B-day, brisket day, that is, no matter how old or young. Kudos!

lol......good one Buck....thanks doc, same to you....I'll have more pics in the morning....I also just threw together a batch of slaw to go on top of the que (and hot dogs for the littler ones) and am now trying my hand at homemade bbq sauce for the first time. It is a slight variation on the Shack Bbq sauce (no Grapette) I found on the web. I'll give reports, as it is cooking right now.

Let the games begin... and the thin blue smoke too!

What a plan tell him Happy Birthday and good looking food too

No need for a cake when ya got an awesome brisket on the table! Stick some candles in it, sing, and slice it!

Okay, quick update as party time is approaching. Homemade hotdog chili is on the stove. Home BBQ sauce is in the fridge.

Here is a pick of the brisket before its nap.

Here is a pic of the fattie and beans in the smoker.

Well the party is over (good cuz I'm beat). It went well, the birthday boy got some nice gifts, the kids had fun and the adults ate well. Here are the final pics. We had 15 kids, 12 adults and 1 fish in the house. Luckily the kids all went outside to swim after we ate.

Here are the finished products. Brisket (with homemade sauce or gravy), baked beans and a pizza fattie. Not pictured are hot dogs with homemade chili and slaw.

And finally, me and the birthday boy.
