Hey all. I realized I had not posted a Roll Call when I joined. So here goes.
Where to start.....I like fishing, the Miami Dolphins, travelling, cooking, and of course BBQ. What am I writing a personal ad? All I have to thro win is the whole long walks on the beach thing and there ya go. LOL. I'm a comedian and always have fun. I am originally from Miami but made stops in Vegas and even North Dakota before coming back to Florida. I live in the Tampa area now. I have always wanted to BBQ and never really had good success until my wife got me the MES 40" SS for Father's Day this year. (only had grills before, never a smoker). While I was searching for tips on the web, I came across this awesome site and have been inspired by you folks these past few weeks. So far everything has come out great as I have followed advice found here.

Since finding you folks, I have smoked my first butts, ribs, pork loin, chicken, and fatties. Everything has come out great. So I am glad to be part of this community and plan to stay active and help where I can while still getting help for myself.

I plan to introduce my BBQ to the world (or at least my wife's co-workers) on Labor Day Weekend. Gonna go with fatties, rbs, and pulled pork. And I know they will be wowed!!! So thanks again for all of the support.

PS: The FM in FMCowboy comes from Fargo-Moorhead when I lived in North Dakota. My real name is Al, but you can called me FM if you like.

Thread on!!!

Welcome Al, Glad to have you with us. (Better Late Than Never). LOL

Welcome to the SMF! You landed in a mighty fine place with a ton of good food, recieps, Q-Vue and full of folks who will be glad to help you out. What better place!

Well FM, seems like you slipped through the cracks on your Roll Call. Now you must perform the appropriate penance, some more great Qviews.
Guess you were planning that anyway.
Good luck with your grand opening introduction smoke for everyone on Labor day.
Any idea how many folks you will be smoking for?

Glad you made roll cal Al, the SMF is a friendly an informative place to be.

Well I gotta say that starting in June and winning a throwdown 3 months later is a very impressive start - great job loved your recipie

Thanks all!!

Scarbelly: Thanks, munchin on the last of my Chicken Phillie Fattie as I type. I personally think that one is the best combination of flavors that I have done yet. I think that smoked provolone ties it all together. It's really creamy and coats the mouth. Great re-heated.

Hey Al,

I lived in Jamestown for about a year (one winter one summer, that was enough!) I'm a newbie, too, but welcome!

Yes you fell threw the cracks for sure. Now what do we do with you ? Ok bend over you have this coming. Close your eyes and hold your hands over your ears.
Now Welcome to you for real. I guess you know thats this is a cool site. so welcomeand keep up the good work. Unless I'm up against you in the next throwdown.

Not sure on the quantity of folks yet. Between 10-20 I suspect will be eating here. I'll have to figure out how much feeds that many. And time everything out. I am worried about the pulled prok since my 1st two were never done even close to dinner. I may have to get up and start in the butt in the early morning hour so its done in time.

Welcome, as said better late than never.

Welcome, Al!

You certainly hit the ground running when you joined this site! Congratulations on your throwdown win! Good luck on you Labor Day smoke. Give yourself plenty of time for the pulled pork, because if it gets done early you can towel it in a cooler for several hours, but you can't serve it if it isn't done in time.

Tim
