So we had this little nugget in the freezer. A boneless 2 1/2 pound cross rib roast.

Threw a beef-broth and bourbon injection/marinade solution together. Shot it up, rubbed it down and put it in the fridge overnight.

And for you folks that think i'm not a big fan of sides, my wife saw all this activity and decided some homemade egg noodles would go great with a smoked cross rib roast.

This guy will only take about 3 hours to get where i want it, so i'll be throwing it on later today. I'll let you know how it turns out :)

If that's the cut I think it is, it's one of my all time favorite cuts of meat. Those egg noodles look great too. You're eating well tonight!

Someone referred to a beef chuck cross rib roast  as "poor man's prime rib" in another thread, so i pretty much had to give it a shot when I found it in the freezer the other day :) And yeah, her homemade egg noodles are so much better than store bought. She is going to have me catch her a pan full of drippings for the gravy. i expect full-on food coma by about 7 tonight!

We're both smoking now. 2 hours in and the internal temp is at 133 according to my trusty Maverick 733. I should have time to finish this very nice Alec Bradley Nica Puro before it hits 145.

That turned out nice and tasty!! I love those homemade noodles also.  That roast is from the Chuck.  They are also known as boneless beef arm roasts.  If you can get your hands on a bone in cross-rib roast it has some tasty ribs attached.  Homemade noodles, gravy and that nice beef roast is one nice meal.  Reinhard

It was good, but when I get in the mood for a small roast I will do a tri tip. Much more tender and flavorful than the cross rib roast imho.

Great job, the noodles look very tasty too

Looks great! Smoked beef roast, noodles, and gravy.............If I had to pick a last meal, that would probably be it. Thanks for sharing, David.
