I made some baked steak the other day and decided to do it on the smoker.

    I seasoned the tenderized steaks....

    Rolled them in flour.....

Lightly browned them and removed them from the pan....

Made some gravy with the drippings.....

Put the steaks back in...with some morel mushrooms and sliced onion....

Whipped up a batch of biscuits....

Onto the smoker with some potatos seasoned with evoo, cracked pepper and kosher salt....

Smoked with a bit of hickory....

And then smothered with the gravy....

It came out really tasty, I'll be making this again. :)

Forgot to add, I smoked at a fairly high temp..about 325, the biscuits took one hour and the baked steak took a little over 2 1/2 hours.

    Thanks folks!

I've smoked bread and biscuits before with good luck, but this was my first time trying the baked steak. I usually just bake it in the oven.
It turned out reallly good and the smoky flavor in the gravy was niiiice.

    Also..
I'm allergic to marriage, but thanks for the offers. lol

Knocking them dead as usual. Terrific. Wish i had the touch to do that style of cooking. Mine only consists of meat and then more meat. Your meals just have that elegant and oh my god look to'em. Keep it going.

If anyone is interested... I used a regular old baking powder biscuit recipe.

    2 cups of flour
    1/4 cup of shortening
    3 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of sugar....you can leave that out
    1 teaspoon of salt
    and 3/4 cup of milk.

If baked in the oven they take 10 to 12 minutes at 450 degrees.
I smoked them for one hour at about 325.

I didn't roll out and cut the biscuits, I just formed them by hand (I know, I'm lazy..lol)

Well then , Jeanie , another awesome looking meal [IMG]
I'll reiterate , anytime you get a desire to see the rest of the country , all you have to do is post where you want to go and when. I'll almost garuentee theres a smf member nearby and near each stop along the way willing to trade some free room and board for a cooking lesson from you [IMG] Your posts look that great [IMG]
And that allergy to marriage thing , probly helps witha bunch of the married folks too.

I'll start , if you are ever near Syracuse ny please stop by my wife and I could use a cooking lesson or three.. Also Got a camp a bit south of meowey in the adirondacks if you are heading that way.[IMG][IMG][IMG]
