    Hello everyone,

    Been a couple months since I've been on the site or done any smoking but today was a good day to get something tasty cooked. I'm just getting over strep throat (43 years old and strep throat - what gives?? lol) so this is my celebration! :)

    Anyhow, went to Cash and Carry and picked up a 3-pack of bb ribs. I smoked 2 of them and froze the other for a later day.

    Prepped these last night. Applied a home-made rub to one slab and the other got a light dose of Costco's rub. Just playing around with flavors today. The one on the butcher paper is the homemade rub while the one on the aluminum foil is the commercial.

    Using a blend of hickory and cherry (never used cherry on ribs before) I'm thinking I'll use the hickory/cherry blend for the first hour or so and then roll exclusively with cherry for the fun of it. On they go!

    3 hours in and been running exclusively with cherry wood for a while now.

    5 hours in - no wrap - really liking the color on these. Getting close!!!

    About 30 minutes left

    And done....mmm, mmm, mmm!

    I think I like the rub made from scratch much better but I added just a bit too much salt for my liking. Over all the smoke went well. Temps held steady, had nice smoke most of the way and cherry tastes just find on ribs.

    Great looking ribs!! I love cherry and usually mix it with pecan.

    Thanks b-one. Tough for me to find pecan in the stores in the NW but I'd love to give it a try sometime.

    You can find lots of options online Fruita wood and BBQ supply is a place I've gotten some from.

    Tasty looking ribs. I bougt pecan on ebay. Cheap too

    Thanks for the ideas guys. Pecan is one wood that I've always been interested in trying.

    I now have rib hangover (already!)

    This was a great way to celebrate getting well - hahaha. Typically I add some veggies or a starch or bread or whatever but this time it was just a plate full of ribs only!

    Thanks DS. I reheated the few we had left over on the grill just a little bit ago. I think they were better than yesterday's fresh batch which is super crazy but true!
