i'm going to get my father in-law an electric smoker for his birthday and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about these (Cajun Injector Electric Smokehouse).  i realize that most would suggest the 30" MES, but this was actually my wife's idea and his bday is on the 3rd.  their are no 30" MES in town, must be ordered.  the academy in town has a few of these guys in stock.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems to be an MES 30, under a different name????

Don't know where the top vent is though.

You may want to call the Cajun Injectors CS Department and find out if the Controller and heating element are replacable. That would be my biggest issue. And I agree with Bear, it does look like the MES.

academy's web site is showing the older model.  i looked at one and the vent is on the top to the right of the controller (just like the MES).  as a matter of fact, awhi8le back, lowe's did have some in stock (not stocking them now) and the CI looks identical to the 30" MES.  the CI control panel "flips down".  i think i'm gonna get it anyways as the only other electric smokers in town are no/generics.  i remember some time ago, jeff was gonna get a CI to test and review for the news letter, but i don't remember ever seeing the review.  he also said he was gonna get a promo code for SMF members to use when ordering from CI.  i might try and find that news letter review.

Yes, it's small, but it will hold a decent amount of food. I got mine from Barbecues Galore for matching a Cabela's add. I had a BBQ Galore gift card for $150, but I know now that at that price, it's a great deal either way.

The guy said that the Cajun Injector is made by Masterbuilt.. Do you know the demensions on your MES?

You say it will hold a decent amount. Can you specify? Will it fit a whole slab of baby's or st. louis or would I have to cut slabs in half?

LOL----I'm still trying to figure out why their ad pictures don't show a vent on the top.-------Weird!

Looked at one saturday at acadamey and the one they had does not have a top vent.

That right there would keep me from buying it.

From what i have been told it is the older style MES 30 under a different lable.

I have the MES 40 and can fit 2 racks of spares untrimmed or 3 st louis racks on each grate.

i have had some users tell me that the 30 can be tight .

Mine isn't one of the real new ones, but it has a top vent.

As for the size----Yeah my MES 30 is a bit on the puny side, but Paul (Beer-B-Q) says if I'm patient, it will grow.

I'm still waiting!

I have a MES30.  I have done two racks of ribs in it (that is the way they come from BJs).  However, I need to cut them in half.  They don't quite fit the long way on a rack.  I suppose that if I had a hanger, they would fit vertically though.
