    Hello all!

Been a lurker for a bit, and get the newsletter, but now I need some guidance so it's time to step out of the dark!

Been using all of your suggestions for some time, and have had alot of success with them on my brinkmann electric bullet. (It was my first appliance!). Now I'm in a place were I've literally worn it out. It's nearly rusted out on the bottom and starting to fall apart. So, combine the need for a new smoker, the money I've made on the one I have, and a little "Economic Stimulus" and it's time to shop!

I'm looking for a nice smoker that'll do several racks of ribs, pork shoulders, etc at once. I'm used to electric, but willing to learn alternative heat sources. Mass production is okay, and so is homebuilt (as long as it isn't IBuilt- I'm not handy...) Also, I expect to feel pain around $300 or so.

So all you pitmasters, any suggestions?

Lots of choices out there for that amount. I'd suggest a charcoal/wood unit with SFB, or the propane GOSM's are a big seller. Either one removes you from the electrical cord...something to think about if you camp, or if you plan on competing.

Be prepared to invest more "pit time" however. But to me, that's the beauty of smoking :{)

I live smack in the middle of Phila, so I have a GOSM. But no matter which one you get it'll be like Rich said "much more smokin time" And that's a good thing!!!

Welcome aboard....glad you decided to come out of the dark!

Looks like Richtee has you pretty well covered for smoker ideas....maybe look at the Wide Body GOSM for some extra room.....might as well get the extra space to start with....[IMG]
